Character
Promoting Character: Good ethics is good business.
In 2011, the Hobbs Chamber kicked off its new focus on character by featuring Michael Josephson, the founder of CHARACTER COUNTS!, the most widely implemented approach to character education in the United States, to be the keynote speaker of the organization’s annual banquet. Josephson challenged Hobbsans to adopt the CHARACTER COUNTS! framework, centered on basic values, called the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
Our organization is committed to integrating character education -- specifically, the Six Pillars of Character -- into our member education program. Every month, the Hobbs Chamber publishes a commentary by founder Michael Josephson, with emphasis on ethics in the workplace. The Chamber Chronicle is archived here.
Consider including the Six Pillars of Character in your company’s ethics code. See how.
